2000
EasyCo LLC is Founded
EasyCo LLC was established by merging Modular Software and Repton Data. By combining storage innovation and software distribution, EasyCo built a data center operational by mid-2000 to meet growing customer needs.
2005
Exploring Early SSDs
EasyCo evaluated one of the first SATA SSDs. Despite 2,000 IOPS read and 65MB/s throughput, random writes were limited to 30 IOPS—barely surpassing hard drive performance.
2006
Rethinking Performance
CTO Doug Dumitru proposed writing data sequentially to bypass random write limits. Theoretical performance indicated up to 16,000 IOPS—500 times faster than existing SSDs.
2008
From Concept to Product
Prototyping with SATA CF cards led to patentable solutions and SSD products. By 2008, EasyCo achieved commercial success, advancing SSD innovation.
2010
Partnership with WhipTail
EasyCo’s software improved WhipTail’s SSD performance and media life. This contributed to WhipTail’s $400M valuation and eventual acquisition by Cisco.
2013
WhipTail Acquisition by Cisco
WhipTail’s software purchases from EasyCo grew to millions by CISCO’s acquisition. After the sale, a shift to investor software ended further product sales.
2018
Advancing Compression and Media
EasyCo expanded into compression, deduplication, and new media types, enhancing performance and broadening market reach ahead of maxRAID’s development.
2024
maxRAID Launch and Leadership Expansion
ESS was rebranded as maxRAID with high-performance compression. Antoine Boucher joined as VP of Customer Success, boosting engagement and growth.

Doug is a pioneering technology inventor with over 30 years of experience in storage solutions. In 1990, he developed storage performance software for embedded databases, earning a “ProGramme Award” in 1991. His work enhanced Sanyo/Icon’s Unix storage stack, boosting performance by over 3X. As CTO of EasyCo LLC, Doug has led the development of block translation software for all-flash arrays, securing over 10 patents. He excels at optimizing performance, reducing wear, and maximizing value by tuning workloads to devices through innovative block translation techniques.

Antoine is a seasoned technology leader with over 20 years of experience in driving innovation and building high-performing teams. As a founder and executive, he has spearheaded the development of cutting-edge software and hardware solutions, managed large global teams, and holds 28 patents. Antoine earned his engineering degree from McGill University.
