EasyCo is founded
Modular Software and Repton Data merge, combining storage innovation and software distribution. A data center is operational by mid‑2000.
- 2005
Meeting the first SSDs
An early SATA SSD reads at 2,000 IOPS — but random writes crawl at 30 IOPS, barely faster than a hard drive.
- 2006
Write it sequentially
CTO Doug Dumitru proposes writing data sequentially to bypass the random‑write limit. The math says 16,000 random writes per second, from drives that managed 30.
- 2008
From concept to product
Prototypes on SATA CF cards lead to patents and commercial SSD products.
- 2010
Powering WhipTail
EasyCo software improves WhipTail’s SSD performance and media life, contributing to its $400M valuation.
- 2013
Cisco acquires WhipTail
WhipTail’s purchases of EasyCo software had grown to millions by the time of the acquisition.

Compression and new media
EasyCo expands into compression, deduplication and new media types.

EasyCo’s SSD software becomes maxRAID, now with high‑performance compression.
